Curriculum Vitae
Profile
I have been working as a university teacher since 1999. Before entering the teaching field, I did research work for many years in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where I also obtained my PhD degree. My teaching areas are mainly related to computing and information technology. Courses that I have taught include computer programming, computer networks, distributed systems, software engineering, multimedia technology, and computer graphics. I also keep a reasonable publication profile in the field I am working on. My main research areas are digital image processing and computing for education. Other research interests include software engineering, multimedia technology, distributed computing, and Internet computing.
Professional skills
Here are my main areas of expertise. I do not list everything I have ever done, but only those areas in which I would be prepared to undertake a major professional commitment.
- Teaching — As stated above, I have been involved in teaching for almost six years. I have taught courses on computing and information technology at different levels ranging from post-secondary to postgraduate levels.
- Research — I have been involved in four research projects either as the principal or the co-principal investigator. I have been published seven times in various international journals, 17 times in conference proceedings, and three times in a book chapter.
- Courseware development — I have been involved in the course development of many distance learning courses, either as the author, the team coordinator, or an academic member. I was the author of 11 study units in four distance learning courses.
