Software quality: What makes a program code good?

What do you think about the attributes of good program code? Put your opinion on your weblog and let us know the URL to your post.

To my Software Engineering students:

Many of you wrote in your weblog that Software Quality is an important Software Engineering topic that we will not cover during the course. Still, you can think about this issue on your own. So, here is the first question for you at the beginning of second semester.

What do you think about the attributes of good program code?

You can think about this question more concretely in this way. Suppose two programmers gave you two different programs that aim at doing the same task. You are the boss to select one of them and pass it to the program team to continue development of the whole project. What factors will you consider?
