20 January 2006 | Teaching, To Students | 2 Comments

You are asked to think about using the Web Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to develop useful applications. You are also asked to submit a project proposal that presents your thoughts on the subject.

What is Web APIs?

It is about making the big websites, such as Google and Amazon, work for you. It is about using the Web as a computing platform to build your own applications. Visit the following websites to learn more about Web APIs:

What is your task?

As a component of your study of Software Engineering, you are asked to think about using the Web APIs to develop useful applications. You are also asked to submit a project proposal that presents your thoughts on this topic.

The Project Proposal Template

  1. Project Title: Give the project (what you want to do) a sensible title.
  2. Author & Date: Put your name and the date of completion.
  3. Abstact: Use less than 150 words to summarize the main points of your proposal.
  4. Introduction: Give a little bit background on your project. Then introduce the Web API you are interested and will select in your project.
  5. The Proposal: Describe your idea, explain your rationale, and address the significance or potential benefits of your would-be-developed application. Diagrams help to explain ideas. So use diagrams whenever appropriate.
  6. Methodology: Describe how you plan the project and design your idea. Descrie some details on implementation if you can.
  7. Conclusions: Use around 200-300 words to conclude the whole project proposal.
  8. References: Put all the readings, websites, or other resources that you have read or would be used during the project.

I hope you find the topic interesting and like this challenging task.
