Socialtext is a company that offers an enterprise-class-hosted wiki. It has more than 100 customers, of which 20 are in the Fortune 500 (statistics from news.com.com). They use Socialtext to accelerate project cycles and help groups communicate more effectively than with email. One of the company slogan is:

Socialtext is the quickest way to get everyone on the same page.

My terrible experience in playing with FeedWordPress

11-May-05

First, I discoverd FeedWordPress, a WordPress plugin.

Second, I followed the installation guide to install it in my WordPress.

Third, for testing purpose, I set the link category that FeedWordPress will syndicate links from to be “WordPress”. This link catagory contains 8 links to WordPress people.

Forth, I invoked update-feeds.php.

After that, my blog increased its volume of contents by a lot more posts from others’ blogs, as well as some more authors. All of these contents did insert into the database of my blog.

The good thing is I knew what is feed aggregrators and aggregrator blog finally. This is a good example of learn by practice and experience. I did not read very detail and carefully about the FeedWordPress before I gave it a try. Originally, I just wanted to try something like Edu_Rss.

It took me more than one hour to roll back my weblog to its earlier status, because I did not practise frequent backup of my WordPress database.
