Socialtext is a company that offers an enterprise-class-hosted wiki. It has more than 100 customers, of which 20 are in the Fortune 500 (statistics from news.com.com). They use Socialtext to accelerate project cycles and help groups communicate more effectively than with email. One of the company slogan is:
Socialtext is the quickest way to get everyone on the same page.
I have been using a wiki as the online course management system for a distance-learning course I’m responsible for. I think I can learn something form Socialtext.
Why do wikis work? Ross Mayfield, co-founder and chief executive officer of Socialtext, said: “A wiki works because of its simplicity. Our challenge is to make something as easy to use as e-mail with better dynamics for collaboration. ”
